Established in 1975, Shaw Street Children’s Centre Inc is an independent community-based not-for-profit centre dedicated to providing a homely, safe, loving and caring environment that aims to foster each child’s growth and development.
We aim to ease your child’s transition into care from your home by providing a familiar and natural Family Grouped environment where children of mixed ages are cared for together. This kind of environment and its composition closely resembles that of a family where children of mixed age groups can make friends and enjoy their experience together. With a maximum of 28 children in each session staff are able to provide a mixed, varied, caring and nurturing experience for your child.
A family grouped centre provides an appropriate setting to foster all areas of your child’s development and research suggest that this environment has a significant benefit for a child’s social, emotional, language, physical and intellectual development.
